We collect/transmit/sync/store the following to enable our core features:

• Authentication Information: Email and username are collected via Firebase Auth to manage your account and secure your data.
• Camera & Images: We access your device camera and gallery to enable "Cookn What" and "Cookn How" AI vision features. Images are transmitted to our secure servers for analysis and are not used for any other purpose.
• User Generated Content: Recipes, pantry items, and meal plans are stored in Firestore to provide persistent access across your devices.
• Device & Usage Data: We collect basic device identifiers (such as App Set ID) and crash reports to monitor app stability, improve performance, and prevent fraud.
• Coarse Location (Locale): We use your system locale and IP address to determine regional routing, ensuring your requests are handled by the nearest server cluster.
• Profile Information: Optional data like household size and flavor preferences are collected to personalize AI outputs.

Your data is limited to the following purposes:

• Service Functionality: To generate AI recipes via Google Gemini and maintain your digital cookbook.
• AI Processing: Data sent to AI models is used strictly for generating your specific recipe and is governed by Google’s Enterprise Privacy standards.
• No Sale of Data: Cookn AI does NOT sell your personal or sensitive user data to any third party for monetary consideration.
• Third-Party SDKs: We use SDKs from Google and Apple for authentication and service stability. We ensure our SDK providers do not sell personal and sensitive user data from our app.
• Third-Party Integration (Instacart): When using the "Shop on Instacart" feature, your ingredient list and zip code are shared with Instacart to facilitate your order. This data is handled according to Instacart's Privacy Policy.
• Service Providers: We use Google Firebase for data hosting. They are legally bound to process data only on our behalf.

All personal and sensitive user data is handled securely and transmitted using modern cryptography over HTTPS. We implement strict Firebase Security Rules to prevent unauthorized access to your private files and a 5MB upload limit to prevent storage abuse.

We retain your data as long as your account is active. You have a readily discoverable option to initiate account deletion within the App Settings.

Web-Based Deletion Request: If you cannot access the app, you may request account and data deletion by emailing us at support@cooknai.com. All user data will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days of a valid request.

Cookn AI is intended for use by individuals aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 18, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
